FINALLY!

A small look into the process of scanlating. The above is the original, scanned from the compiled volume most likely. Unfortunately the scanner decided not to ruin the book, and thus scanned it with the binding intact. Really problematic as there is a huge gap of image missing.

For better scans, the scanner would have to microwave (yes microwave) the book, so the binding glue melts and the pages can be taken apart.

So here is where the editor comes in. The editor would have to take the image, resize, adjust the levels so blacks appear black and whites appear white, clean up the image from being too grainy, get rid of the text, replace said text with translations, and possibly change the sound effects as well.

In the case of a spreader like the above, the editor would also have to split the image and fill in the gap. See, the editor's job takes a while, and experienced editors are often in demand.

Now in editing Tokyo Crazy Paradise, I joined up here, at chapter 48. I'm not an editor by no means, but I essentially just clean up the images for the editor to work their magic. Thankfully, all the scans have been leveled already, so all I have to do is get rid of text and some sound effects.

Of course occasionally there's a spreader, and in the case of THIS particular one, the gap is really, really big. Had to split the image, move one half so it aligns to the other, clean up the "dark" spots where the shadow of the binding is present, and fill in the gap.
